You can save a life just by taking an hour out of your busy schedule to donate blood!
Donating blood is as simple as making a call and heading down to do your bit to help save a life.

Mick reckons Carol needs a medal
Our local Red Cross Blood Service are keen for all members of the community to help now as cold and flu symptoms are wiping out as many as 900 blood donors a week.
Australia’s emergency service workers launched their annual Emergency Services Challenge last week to help meet the need for blood products.
Police, Fire Fighters, Ambulance and emergency response workers are battling it out to see who can give the most blood, all the while helping to counter a serious seasonal drop off in donor numbers.
Constable Mick Dunstan from Cairns Police is a regular blood donor and when we put out the call to get down to the blood bank to donate, he convinced a number of his colleagues to join him.
Mick said, “I’ve donated plenty of times before and yesterday was no different. I spent less than an hour reclined in a comfortable arm chair, being waited on, drinking milkshakes and watching classic Monty Python movies.”
“Seriously, the ladies at the Cairns blood bank do a fantastic job and make the donating experience enjoyable, believe it or not. I reckon this is why people keep coming back and of course the ‘Great Carol’ deserves a medal too for doing what she does.” Mick said.
Cairns Police are challenging all QPS members, families, friends and the public to get behind the QPS team in the Emergency Services Challenge and donate today!
