Trio charged over fraud matters, Kanimbla: A woman aged 40 and two men aged 21 and 39 were charged yesterday as part of an investigation into what detectives describe as an elaborate fraud operation.
It will be alleged that the three were involved in fraudulent on-line sales offers of various items on a popular on-line trading site.
Officers executed a search warrant at a Messina Close residence at around 7pm on Tuesday evening and the three were taken into custody. The residence was searched yesterday and several items of interest were allegedly located and seized.
The trio, all from Kanimbla, were each charged with one count of fraud and are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning. Investigations into their alleged activities are continuing.
Unlawful wounding charge, Westcourt: Police charged a 26-year-old White Rock woman yesterday morning following investigations into an incident that occurred at a Mann Street residence in February.
It will be alleged that a woman, who was staying at the address at the time, had become involved in a verbal dispute with the 71-year-old primary resident and had used a knife to physically attack him. The man sustained a cut injury to his forearm as a result of the incident. The woman then allegedly stole his phone before fleeing from the dwelling.
The 26-year-old was located at an Arizona Crescent address yesterday morning and taken into custody before being charged with one count each of unlawful wounding and stealing. The woman is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.
