Wow – are the school holidays over already! Well where did that two weeks go?
School students and motorists are reminded that school resumes on Monday July 13. This means that the 40km school zone speed limits will again apply.
The majority of school zones have standardised times from 7am – 9am and again from 2pm – 4pm each school day.
Local police will be paying attention to the school zones and will be performing high visibility patrols and traffic duties around our schools in an effort to reduce speed and parking issues.
Police in the far north are proactively targeting life endangering offences and paying particular attention to the fatal five causes of road crash fatalities which include speeding, drink and drug driving, no seatbelts, fatigue and inattention.
Motorists are also advised they are not permitted to enter a controlled school pedestrian crossing until such time as the supervisor has actually cleared the crossing.
