Search and rescue operation, Kanimbla: Police and emergency crews were called to an incident on Lake Morris Road at Kanimbla overnight.
A 32-year-old Manoora man was in the area just past the main lookout area around midnight when he fell down a steep incline beside the road.
Emergency crews were lowered down to the man’s location and provided emergency treatment. He was subsequently airlifted by the Queensland Government rescue helicopter and transported to the Cairns Hospital with serious leg injuries.
Lake Morris Road was closed for about an hour whilst the rescue was undertaken.
Dangerous driving charge, Kuranda Range: Smithfield police charged a 21-year-old Holloways Beach woman on Friday following an alleged dangerous driving incident on the Kuranda Range section of the Kennedy Highway on Thursday.
It will be alleged the woman was driving erratically in a silver coloured Subaru sedan in an easterly direction on the highway at around 2pm, forcing a number of other vehicles to take evasive action.
The woman was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 26.
Investigators have spoken with a number of people but believe there are several unidentified witnesses they have yet to speak with.

Drug charges, Gordonvale: Edmonton police charged a 17-year-old Gordonvale man yesterday following a search of his residence.
Detectives executed a search warrant at a Bell Lane property at around 6pm and allegedly located quantities of packed cannabis as well as various items of drug paraphernalia.
He was charged with possession of a dangerous drug, possession of things used in the commission of a crime and possession of drug utensils.
The man is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 24.
Witnesses sought to serious traffic crash, Clifton Beach: Cairns Forensic Crash Unit officers are continuing with investigations into a serious traffic crash that occurred at the intersection of the Captain Cook Highway and Clifton Road on Friday.
A 47-year-old Townsville man was seriously injured when a turning vehicle struck his southbound motorcycle at around 11.20 am.
He was treated at the scene before being transported to the Cairns Hospital with serious spinal and facial injuries. The man was later airlifted to Brisbane for specialist treatment and remains in a serious condition.
