Far Northern White Ribbon Day events this month

All members of the community are encourage to do their bit to help bring awareness to and prevent violence against women and families.

The below awareness events are planned for the far north: 

Tolga Industrial Estate Sizzle: Raising awareness & funds for Violence against Women.

  • When:        November 20, 3pm – 5.30pm
  • Where:      Artists Blacksmiths, 6 Isabella East, Atherton Industrial Estate, Tolga

The Zonta Club of Cairns & TAFE North Queensland White Ribbon Day: Morning tea at Cairns TAFE recognising White Ribbon Day. White Ribbon Day morning tea at Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE (TNQT) is in support of Australia’s campaign to stop violence against women.

  • When:           November 25, 9.30am – 11am
  • Where:         The Queenslander, TAFE, Level 2, S Block, Gatton St, Cairns

Douglas Shire White Ribbon Twilight Walk: The walk will be followed by guest speakers, information stalls, live entertainment & light refreshments. Funds raised will help support the campaign to stop domestic violence against women. This event is expected to finish at approximately 7.30pm.

  • When:          November 25 – Walk Starts at 5.30pm
  • Where:         From the Front Car Park, Douglas Shire Council, Front St Mossman
  • Ends:            Church Grounds, St David’s Church, Foxton Avenue, Mossman

In Her Shoes’ Relay Race & Fundraiser: Raising awareness & funds for Violence against Women. The relay race is a fun opportunity for men and boys to raise awareness of the serious cases and effects of domestic and family violence within Cairns. This event aims to foster and encourage male leadership in the prevention of violence against women, based on the understanding that most men are not violent.  More details & forms: In Her Shoes Relay Race Registration

  • Where:         Western Events Lawn, The Esplanade

  • Entry:           $20 nomination fee to help raise funds
