Man charged, going armed to cause fear, Manunda: A 28-year-old Edge Hill man has been charged after he allegedly produced a knife in the driveway of a Hoare Street service station at around 3.30pm yesterday.
Police will allege that the man was initially in a vehicle with others known to him, when the group became involved in an argument. The man allegedly exited the vehicle armed with a knife and made threats to those he was arguing with.
Police were on-scene a short time later and the man was taken into custody without incident. No threats were made to staff at the location.
The man was charged with going armed so as to cause fear and breaching a bail condition. He is scheduled to appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Further charges, Out of Control Event, Bentley Park: A 16-year-old Edmonton boy has been charged with organising an out of control event and trespass following investigations into an out of control party that was held in Bentley Park on December 10.
The recent charges follow another 16-year-old boy who was also charged over the event on Monday.
Police will allege that a large number of guests attended the party at an abandoned home in Bentley Park after it had been advertised on Facebook. The owner of the property had in place fencing and signage at the property to keep trespassers out.
The teen will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992.
