Child Protection Week kicked-off yesterday and already the word is on the street about what we need to do to keep our kids safe.
Officers from the Child Protection Unit teamed up with Police Liaison Officers, Act for Kids and members from the Department of Child Safety to run a sausage sizzle and information tent at Shang Park in Mooroobool yesterday afternoon.

Detective Senior Constable Todd Dodson hands out advice and water bottles on how to Be Strong.Be Heard.
Over 40 local kids swarmed the park and participated in a range of activities and took home some great giveaways.
Detective Senior Constable Todd Dodson from the Cairns Child Protection Unit had a strong message on what we need to do to protect children in our community.
“Our message is to speak up, be strong and be heard,” Detective Senior Constable Dodson said.
“We urge all members of the community ensure that they report all incidents of child abuse.
“Child abuse only continues when those able to do something, do nothing.”
Child Protection Week runs from September 4 until September 10 and is coordinated nationally by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN).
