Assault occasioning bodily harm charges, Manoora: A 21-year-old Manoora man is due to face Cairns Magistrates Court today charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm in relation to an incident that occurred on Pease Street, Manoora at about 6pm on Monday.
It will be alleged the man punched a 46-year-old Mooroobool man, knocked him from his bike, kicked and punched him once whilst he was on the ground.
A 55-year-old Redlynch woman approached the 21-year-old and told him to stop. It’s further alleged he then turned on the woman, punched her in the face with a closed fist and fled on foot.
The woman sustained facial and neck injuries and the man sustained bruising and lacerations. Both were conveyed to the Cairns Hospital for treatment.
Spike in thefts from vehicles, Cairns area: Police are reminding people to remove any valuables and secure their vehicles following the unlawful entry of eight vehicles across the Cairns area in the last 24 hours.
Vehicles were targeted during the hours of darkness at Bentley Park, Mount Sheridan, Manoora and Bungalow where various items of property were stolen.
Most of the vehicles contained property which had been left on seats and in view of offenders.
Police suggest removing any bags or containers, even if empty, due to the temptation that they may provide to opportunistic offenders.
