Our amazing FNQESCB Committee and Cairns Barrier Reef Lions Club are proud to present a cheque for $10,000 to the Trish Thomson from the Cairns Volunteer Branch of Make A Wish Australia.
Tuesday saw members from the Far North Queensland Emergency Services Charity Ball (FNQESCB) Committee along with a representative from the Cairns Barrier Reef Lions Club present a cheque for $10,000 to the Cairns Volunteer Branch of Make A Wish Australia.
The funds were raised from this year’s FNQESCB which was held on August 6.
Make A Wish Australia gives children hope for the future, strength to face the challenges of their illness and joy from their wish experience. The funds raised by the FNQESCB will go to the Cairns Volunteer branch so they can grant seriously ill local children their life changing wishes.
Acting Officer in Charge of Gordonvale Police, Sergeant Renee Hanrahan, explained the choice to donate to Make A Wish was simple.
“They receive no formal funding and rely on sausage sizzles which raise about $1,000”, Sergeant Hanrahan said.
“So to receive $10,000 is incredible and will really help get the current wishes well on their way.”
Cairns Volunteer Branch of Make A Wish Australia representative, Trish Thomson said they have nine wishes to fill for local children.
“This is just amazing. One little boy wants to go the reef to see turtles like David Attenborough and a little girl wants to be a Zoo Keeper at Taronga Zoo,” Ms Thomson said.
The FNQESCB Committee are extremely grateful for the support shown by all the sponsors and people who supported this worthwhile cause.
With that support wishes and dreams will come true, so thank you!
For those wanting to support the 2017 FNQESCB, save the date for August 5, 2017!
