Burglary charges, Edge Hill: Two male youths aged 15 and 16 from Woree and Edmonton, were arrested and charged yesterday morning after being located inside a Goodwin Street residence.

A witness called triple zero after seeing the boys gain entry to the dwelling at around 10:00am. Detectives, who were in the area making unrelated inquiries, were quickly on scene where it will be alleged one of the youths threw shards of broken glass at the officers.  It will be further alleged he then threw a large screwdriver at an officer.

The pair fled from the residence and a foot chase ensued, with the younger youth being apprehended in the Red Arrow walking track area. The second youth was arrested on a nearby street a short time later after allegedly assaulting a Tactical Crime Squad officer.

Both were charged with two counts of burglary and one count of obstructing police, whilst the older youth faces two additional charges of serious assault.
Both with be dealt with under the provisions of The Youth Justice Act 1992.   

Fraud charge, Cairns:  A 63-year-old NSW man was charged yesterday following an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds held in an inheritance trust account.

It will be alleged the man was a trustee to the account and appropriated funds to his own use during 2006 – 2007.

He was charged with one count of fraud and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.

Stealing charge, Cairns:  A 37-year-old Cairns man was charged last night following the alleged theft of money from a 63-year-old ParramattaPark man in a CBD park.

It will be alleged the victim was walking from the CBD to his home address when he stopped to rest on a bench in Munro Martin Park shortly after 6pm He was approached by two men who sat beside him.

It will be alleged that one of the men reached into the victim’s top pocket and stole a sum of money. Both offenders then walked off.  Police conducted patrols of the CBD and fringes and located one of the men at around midnight.

He was charged with one count of stealing from the person and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning. Investigations are continuing.
