Sunday November 27, Innisfail Police Station held their first social game of cricket to thank their local State Emergency Service (SES). The SES is a volunteer based organisation designed to empower people to help themselves and others in their community in times of emergency and disaster.

“We came up with the idea to hold an annual cricket game to thank our local SES for all they do for us and the community in different circumstances,” Police Liaison Officer Stacey Kneubuhler said.
“The day is about having fun in a friendly cricket game and sausage sizzle to bring us all together. We held the event as QPS vs SES with Police dressed up as hawaiian theme and SES dressed up super hero’s.”
As a way to show thanks to the SES the Innisfail Police supplied the cricket equipment, a free sausage sizzle, water and soft drinks.
Innisfail Police won on this first cricket game, taking home the trophy for year 2016. This will be held as a yearly event by Innisfail Police to thank their local SES for everything they do in the Innisfail community.
“Everyone is looking forward to next year and seeing if the SES can beat us and take home the trophy for 2017!” Police Liaison Officer Stacey Kneubuhler said.
