Boy charged over Whitfield burglaries: Investigations into a high number of daytime burglary offences in the Whitfield area over recent weeks netted a 14-year-old Manoora boy on Friday.
Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad attended a Rambutan Close residence on Friday morning to speak with the boy however he fled on a bicycle.
He was located at a nearby premise a short time later and taken into custody.
The youth was charged with a total of seven offences comprising two counts each of burglary and attempted burglary, and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and entering premises and stealing.
The charges relate to offences allegedly committed in the Whitfield area between November 27 and 29.
Assault charge, Mossman: Detectives charged a 30-year-old Mossman man on Saturday following investigations into the alleged assault of a 48-year-old man at a Bow Street residence on November 28.
It will be alleged that the punched the victim, who was known to him, as they left a gathering at the residence at around 11.30pm on that date.
The victim was rendered unconscious as a result of the incident and sustained bruising and soreness.
Police attended an Alchera Drive address at around 8.30am on Saturday and the man was taken into custody.
He was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in the Mossman Magistrates Court on December 21.
