It will be alleged that the pair entered the car park area of a Williams Esplanade accommodation complex at around 1.30am and cut the fabric top of a convertible style motor vehicle with a sharp instrument.
The couple were located by police in Lake Street at around 3.30pm yesterday and taken into custody.

Vehicle theft charge, Manoora: A 13-year-old Earlville girl was charged yesterday as part of ongoing investigations into a burglary and vehicle theft offence that occurred last month.
It is alleged thieves gained entry to a Solager Street residence in the early hours of December 29 while the resident was asleep and stole various items of property including a set of keys which were then used to steal a vehicle from the residence.
A few days later the vehicle was later intercepted on the Bruce Highway at Mt Sheridan and two occupants were arrested at the scene whilst others fled on foot.
Cairns Property Crime Squad officers located and spoke with the girl last night and she was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Investigations into the incidents are continuing.
