Four charged over disturbance, Bungalow: Two women aged 28 and 56-years-old and two men aged 18 and 27-years-old were charged yesterday following an incident at a Hannam Street residence.
It will be alleged the four left a Manoora address just after 1.30pm and drove their vehicle to the Bungalow residence.
On arrival they allegedly gained entry to the dwelling and a verbal altercation ensued between them and a man and woman who reside at the address, and whom were known to the four.
The situation escalated into a physical altercation and the two residents, aged 43 and 45, were allegedly assaulted by the group and property in the home was damaged.
They then left the address after allegedly damaging the couple’s vehicle with a cricket bat.
Police attended and obtained details of the incident whilst the victims were being treated for their injuries.
Officers then attended an Olive Street address at Manoora and four people were taken into custody.
The two men and the 56-year-old woman, all from Manoora, were each charged with one count of burglary and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
The 28-year-old woman, from Babinda, was charged with those offences and was further charged with an additional count of assault occasioning bodily harm as well as stealing and wilful damage charges.
The four are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on February 15.
Workplace theft charge, Stratford: Detectives charged a 22-year-old Manoora man on Saturday following investigations into a workplace theft incident.
It will be alleged the man was employed at a Stratford retail produce business when he stole money on two occasions during December last year.
Officers spoke with the man at his home address on Saturday morning. He was charged with stealing as a clerk and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on February 13.
Assault incident, Cairns City: A boy aged 16 and a 32-year-old man, both from Manoora, were charged yesterday following the alleged assault of a man on Grafton Street.
It will be alleged a 21-year-old man was walking along the street at around 8.15am when he was approached from behind by the pair who allegedly chased him before punching him several times and fleeing on their bicycles.
The man sustained swelling and lacerations as a result of the incident.
Police crews located a 16-year-old boy short time later on the Esplanade and taken into custody. The man was located on Pease Street at about 9.45am and was also arrested.
The pair were charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. The man is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on February 15.
