Wounding incident, Manunda: A 46-year-old Manunda man was charged yesterday afternoon following an incident at his Mylchreest Street address earlier in the morning.

It will be alleged that the man became involved in an altercation with another 35-year-old male resident at the same address at around 11.15am.

It will be further alleged that the man then used a screwdriver to assault the younger man, resulting in several wounds to his arm and back. The victim then fled and sought refuge at a nearby residence.

Police attended and located the man in the front yard at the address where he was taken into custody without incident.

The victim was treated by ambulance officers at the scene before being transported to the Cairns Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives charged the man with unlawful wounding and he is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this morning.  

Property charges, Cairns: Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad arrested and charged a 20-year-old Edmonton man yesterday as part of a lengthy property crime investigation.

The man had been sought in relation to offences allegedly committed at Earlville, Mooroobool and Trinity Beach between December 26 and January 4.

Inquiries led officers to a residence in Mazlin Street at Edge Hill just after midday where the man was located and taken into custody.

He was charged with a total of 22 offences comprising nine counts of burglary, three counts of entering a dwelling with intent, five counts of entering premises and stealing, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle as well as single counts of attempted burglary, common assault, and entering premises with intent.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this morning.

Update: Additional suspect charged over Bungalow disturbance: A 56-year-old Manoora woman is the latest to be charged as part of ongoing investigations into an incident at a Hannam Street residence on Sunday afternoon.

It will be alleged the woman was with a group of four others who assaulted a 43-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman at the Bungalow residence at around 1.40pm on Sunday.

The woman was taken into custody just before 2pm yesterday and charged with one count of burglary and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

She is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on February 16.

Two women aged 28 and 56 and two men aged 18 and 27 were charged in relation to the same incident on Sunday.
