Wounding incident, Gordonvale: An investigation is underway into an overnight disturbance at Gordonvale that resulted in a woman sustaining a stab wound.

Police and emergency crews were called to a Pritchard Close unit complex at around midnight to find a 47-year-old woman with a wound to her back. She was treated at the scene by ambulance officers before being transported to the Cairns Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

It will be alleged that a man, who was known to the woman, had arrived at the complex in a vehicle and had attempted to gain entry to an unattended unit.

The man allegedly became involved in a verbal altercation with the woman before striking her once to the lower back with a small pocket knife. He then fled in his vehicle.

Investigations were commenced and police from Babinda and Innisfail subsequently located a 23-year-old man at a Babinda residence where he was taken into custody early this morning.

The man is presently assisting detectives will their inquiries.

Teen charged over bottle shop break-in & other offences: Police investigating the forced entry of a Forest Gardens bottle shop last Friday morning have charged another male teen.

It will be alleged that a group of male offenders used a stolen vehicle to force entry to the store at around 4.30am and stole a large quantity of liquor. Two men aged 19 and 24-years-old have already been charged in relation to the matter.

Cairns Property Crime Squad officers attended a White Rock address at around 9am yesterday morning and took a 15-year-old boy into custody.

It will be alleged that the boy was involved in the bottle shop offence, as well as other property related offences at Bentley Park, Mount Sheridan, Cairns City, Trinity Park and Palm Cove between February 10 and 15. 

He was charged with a total of 10 offences including three counts each of burglary and unlawful use of motor vehicles, as well as singular counts of breaking and entering premises and stealing, unlicensed driving, attempted stealing and possession of implements used in relation to particular offences.

Investigations into the incidents are continuing.
