Girl charged over Holloways Beach store break-in: Police yesterday charged a 13-year-old Cairns girl as part of ongoing investigations into the forced entry of a Holloways Beach convenience store in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It will be alleged that the girl was with others when they used a stolen vehicle to force entry to the front of the Oleander Street store at around 5.30am.

Significant damage was caused to the front doors of the building and the offenders then gained entry to the business and stole a quantity of food and a charity collection tin before fleeing in the stolen car.

Detectives attended a White Rock residence at around 3.30 and took the girl into custody.  She was charged with one count each of breaking and entering premises and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and using the vehicle to commit a further offence.

It will be alleged that the vehicle used in the incident was stolen from a Westcourt address on or about February 24.

Second youth charged over Mount Sheridan vehicle theft: Detectives charged a 16-year-old Edmonton boy yesterday as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged theft of a vehicle from a Mount Sheridan residence.

The boy was with other youths when they allegedly entered the unlocked vehicle in Oakblue Drive just before midnight and located the keys in the glovebox.

The youths then drove the vehicle a short distance onto nearby Bambusa Terrace, and abandoned it in the street after stealing cash from a purse that had been left in the vehicle.

Police arrested a 15-year-old Yarrabah boy following a foot chase in the area and he was charged with various offences.

The second youth was located yesterday and charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.  He was also charged with entering premises and stealing as a result of the alleged unlawful entry and theft of property from another vehicle at Mount Sheridan on the same date.

Vehicle theft and property charges, Cairns: Three girls aged 13, 14 and 15 and a boy aged 14, all from Edmonton, were charged last night after they allegedly attempted to flee from a stolen vehicle at Mooroobool.

A police patrol observed the vehicle parked in Craig Street at Mooroobool at around 9.30pm last night and the four occupants were taken into custody after attempting to run off.

Subsequent inquiries revealed that the vehicle had been stolen during a burglary offence at Atherton on February 28.

The three girls were each charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

As a result of investigations into this and other matters, the boy was charged with three counts each of burglary and entering premises and stealing as well as one count each of receiving tainted property and fraud.
