Policing giggling minions was hard work for honorary Sergeant Creek at the charity golf day

As promised those who attended the annual Gordonvale Police Charity Golf Day not only swung a few clubs, they hit a few balls and had plenty of fun in the process.

Organiser, officer in charge of Yarrabah Police, Senior Sergeant Erin Shawcross was pleased to advise the team managed to raise approximately $24,000 for the Childrens Charities.

A perfect day for day on the greens!

“We managed to convince 110 golfers to turn out, but I suspect it was more like five golfers and 105 hacks”, Senior Sergeant Shawcross said.

“There was some very ordinary golf played, but after much deliberating with the judges, the winning team for best dressed were the ‘Minions’, who were nominated by our main supporter, Pacific Toyota.

“The retired police association cooked up a great brekky for champions and they certainly supported our massive auction.

“John from MSF Sugar in Gordonvale won the major raffle and we were all thoroughly entertained by the majestic voice of Rob Musumeci.”

Honorary Sergeant Creek and his merry men

There were plenty of hi-jinks on the links with ‘Sergeant Creek’, a long time Gordonvale local and long time supporter of the golf day, issuing fines.

Sergeant Creek helped raise quite a bit for the kitty as he manoeuvred his golf buggy, fitted with police strobe lights, around the fairways. Fines included the worst shirt, worst swing and being too serious.

Our lovely Cairns administration staff members Dee, Nicole and Sharon, ready to ‘Par-Tee”.
