Man charged over fraud incident, Cairns: Detectives yesterday charged an 82-year-old Machans Beach man as part of a fraud related investigation.
It will be alleged that between June 9 and 26, the man attempted to fraudulently obtain investment funds from another Innisfail man for a purported water harvesting and distribution company.
Detectives executed a search warrant at a Machans Beach address yesterday where they seized a number of items of interest to the investigation. The man was taken into custody and subsequently charged with one count of attempted fraud.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this morning.
Stealing and wilful damage charges, Cairns: A 14-year-old Manoora girl was charged yesterday following investigations into the theft of clothing from a CBD business on June 15.
It will be alleged that the girl was one of a group of about five female youths who entered the McLeod Street store and stole a number of T shirts before fleeing the store on foot.
Beat officers located the group in Shields Street and the girl was found to have five shirts in her possession which were seized. Officers made further inquiries with the targeted business, where staff were aware of the group but unaware that property had been stolen.
Cairns Property Crime Squad officers spoke with the girl at her Manoora address yesterday and she was charged with stealing.
She was also charged with wilful damage as a result of investigations into graffiti offences at a Murray Street residential complex in early December.
