Assault and property charges, Parramatta Park: A 15-year-old Edmonton boy was charged on Friday as a result of investigations into an assault incident at Parramatta Park on May 21.
A 29-year-old man was walking along Balfe Street at around 6am on that date when he was approached by a group of youths and assaulted. He fled on foot and the youths gave chase, assaulting him a second time.
A number of local residents heard the victim yelling out and came to his assistance. The youths then fled after one of them kicked and damaged the door of a vehicle belonging to a local resident.
The man sustained bruising and abrasions as a result of the incident and was treated at the scene by ambulance officers. A 17-year-old Bentley Park man was charged later the same day with assault occasioning bodily harm.
As a result of further investigations, detectives spoke with the boy at his residence on Friday afternoon and he was taken into custody.
He was charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and wilful damage. He was also charged with one count of stealing as a result of an unrelated matter.
Property charges, Cairns: Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad charged a 14-year-old Yarrabah boy yesterday as a result of investigations into a White Rock burglary incident in March where two vehicles were allegedly stolen.
It will be alleged that the boy and others gained entry to a Malibu Close residence via an unlocked door on the afternoon of March 25 and stole car keys.
It will be alleged that they returned to the residence in the early hours of the following morning and stole two vehicles which were parked outside.
The boy was taken into custody at his home address yesterday morning and was subsequently charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count of burglary.
He was also charged with one count each of entering premises and stealing, wilful damage and a Bail Act offence as a result of investigations into unrelated incidents at White Rock and Yarrabah between April 6 and June 15.
Burglary charge, Machans Beach: A 16-year-old Cairns North boy was charged yesterday following investigations into a burglary offence committed at Machans Beach in April.
It will be alleged that the youth forced entry to a Marshall Street residence sometime around April 11 and damaged furniture and internal walls at the property. No one was home at the time of the incident.
Detectives spoke with the boy yesterday afternoon and he was charged with burglary. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
