Property and fraud charges, Smithfield:  A 31-year-old Kewarra Beach woman was charged yesterday following investigations into a burglary incident at Trinity Beach in early April.

It will be alleged that entry was gained to a Keem Street residence early on the morning of April 2 and purses, jewellery and other items were stolen. Credit cards stolen at the time were allegedly used shortly afterward to purchase goods at a Smithfield fuel station.

Officers from Smithfield CIB attended the woman’s home address at 11.30am and she was taken into custody.

She was charged with one count each of burglary, fraud and receiving tainted property and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on July 25.

Girls charged over stolen vehicle, Cardwell: Two girls aged 13, three aged 14 and two others aged 15 and 16 were charged yesterday after they were located at Cardwell with an allegedly stolen vehicle.

It will be alleged the car had been stolen from outside a Mintaro Crescent address at Woree on Monday night.

The girls, from Bentley Park, Edmonton, Gordonvale and Manoora, were located with the vehicle in a car park on Victoria Street at Cardwell at around 3pm.

They were arrested and charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, with the 16-year-old being charged with five additional offences. All were then returned to Cairns.

The vehicle was also seized and arrangements made for the owner to collect it.

Update: Stolen vehicle located:  Police have located a vehicle stolen during a burglary offence at Mooroobool yesterday.

Information suggests that up to three indigenous males forced entry to a residence in Lime Street and stole keys and jewellery items before stealing a vehicle which was parked in the front yard of the residence.

The stolen 2007 Honda Jazz hatchback was located on a vacant block at Manoora yesterday morning.

Investigations are continuing into the incident and detectives believe that the offenders are possibly responsible for other similar burglary offences committed yesterday at Mario Street in Woree as well as Sunflower Drive at Mooroobool.
