
Stolen car located, Manoora
A 38-year-old Westcourt man was charged last night after officers from Cairns Tactical Crime Squad located an alleged stolen car in Manoora.
The officers were conducting patrols in the area when they came across the vehicle parked on Murray Street.
A search of the vehicle was conducted with police allegedly locating a glass pipe, a “flick” knife and fireworks.
The man was charged with one count each of authority required to possess explosives, possess utensils and unlawful possession of weapons category A,B or M.
He was bailed and will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on July 7.
The vehicle was seized and further inquiries will be made.
Possess dangerous drugs, Cairns
A 58-year-old Tolga man was arrested yesterday after police located him at a Cairns motel in possession of an allegedly dangerous drug.
Around 11pm yesterday June 21 officers attended the Mulgrave Road address and located the man in one of the rooms.
While talking to the man he has allegedly attempted to conceal a plastic bag from the officers.
Officers have seized the bag containing a white powder they will allege to be amphetamine.
The man was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs.
He was denied bail and will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Failure to provide, Edmonton
Edmonton police have intercepted and charged a 39-year-old Edmonton man after he was seen allegedly riding a motorbike with no helmet.
Around 10.30pm yesterday June 21 officers were conducting patrols in Edmonton when they intercepted the motorbike rider on Quinn Drive.
A road side breath test was conducted resulting in a positive result and the rider was detained and transported to Edmonton Police Station for further testing.
At the station the rider failed to provide a sample of breath and was subsequently charged with one count each of fail to provide sample of breath for analysis, wearing motorbike helmets, vehicle use on road must be registered and drive uninsured vehicle.
The 39-year-old’s licence was immediately suspended and he was bailed to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on July 7.
