A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman have been arrested after police were called to a disturbance at a Natale St address yesterday.
It will be alleged while officers were responding, the man and woman refused to comply with police directions and subsequently officers used OC spray on the pair.
During their arrest, a struggle ensued, and the two officers sustained minor injuries in the process.
The 19-year-old man was charged with one count of serious assault police and will appear before Cairns Magistrates Court today, August 17.
The 18-year-old woman was charged with one count each of serious assault police and wilful damage.
She will appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on September 1.

Assault – Cairns City
Three teenage girls have been charged following an alleged assault of a woman on Lake Street in the early hours of the morning on August 15.
It will be alleged the girls followed the 24-year-old victim and her friend from a taxi rank to near the corner of Lake and Minnie Streets before demanding money and keys from them.
When the victim refused, various items were allegedly used to assault the woman.
The victim sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
Identification using the City Safe CCTV monitoring system led to the last of the girls allegedly involved in the incident being arrested at an Edmonton address yesterday, August 16.
A 14-year-old Edmonton girl has been charged with one count each of assault and assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court on September 1.
A 15-year-old North Cairns girl has been charged with two counts of common assault and is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court tomorrow, August 18.
It will be further alleged that a 17-year-old Westcourt girl involved in the assault had previously been involved in a break-in at a Marlin Parade business on July 30.
She has been charged with one count each of assault and enter premises and is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court on August 23.

Assault – Cairns City
A 13-year-old Manoora boy has been charged following an incident at the front of the Cairns Police Station yesterday morning.
It will be alleged the boy assaulted two officers and another victim after being spoken to regarding his behaviour on Sheridan Street.
It will be further alleged that the boy was involved in another assault that occurred at a Manoora address on August 11.
The boy has been charged with four counts of assault, two of assault occasioning bodily harm, two of serious assault police by spitting and three of wilful damage.
He will appear before Cairns Childrens Court today, August 17.
