
Robbery charges, Cairns City
Police have charged a 32-year-old Cairns man following investigations into an alleged robbery outside a Sheridan Street business yesterday, September 11.
It will be alleged just before 10am, the man pushed a 70-year-old Whitfield man to the ground as he was walking towards his car and stole his keys.
The 32-year-old attempted to start the vehicle before leaving the scene on foot.
He was located by police a short time later on the Esplanade in Cairns North and charged with one count of robbery with violence.
He was denied police bail and is due to appear at Cairns Magistrates Court today, September 12.

Multiple domestic violence charges, Cairns
Police have charged a 40-year-old Cairns man following an investigation into alleged historical and recent domestic violence offending.
It will be alleged between February 2021 and July 2021, and in August 2023, the man committed multiple domestic violence offences against a woman, who was known to him.
Officers from the Cairns Domestic Violence High Risk Team located and arrested the man yesterday, September 11, and charged him with 19 counts of common assault, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, one count of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, six counts of strangulation, nine counts of contravene of a domestic violence order and three counts of driving a motor vehicle without a licence.
He was denied police bail and is due to appear at Cairns Magistrates Court today, September 12.
