Dangerous Operation of a vehicle, Edge Hill
Cairns Detectives have charged a 17-year-old Rasmussen boy following an alleged dangerous driving incident at Edge Hill around 7.30pm last night, January 11.
It is alleged the 17-year-old attend a Stuart Street residence in a stolen Lexus station wagon. The teenager exited the vehicle and allegedly forced entry to the home where he located car keys to a BMW sedan. The teenager was allegedly attempting to steal the BMW from the garage when a witness intervened.
It is further alleged the teen forcibly drove the BMW into the garage door and then at the internal walls inside the garage, as this occurred the BMW struck the male witness in the leg.
The teen exited the vehicle and attempted to flee, he was apprehended by neighbours who had heard the commotion and came to assist.
The 64-year-old witness sought medical treatment for bruising to his left leg.
Police arrested the 17-year-old at the scene, he was later charged with entering a dwelling, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Officers recovered the stolen Lexus station wagon which was allegedly stolen from Swallow Street at Mooroobool on January 11.
The 17-year-old was further charged with 12 outstanding offences which included three counts of stealing, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of attempting to enter a dwelling, and one count each of entering a premises, attempted fraud, entering a dwelling and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was refused police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Children’s Court.

Youths arrested, Gordonvale
Five teenagers aged between 13 and 17 were taken into police custody yesterday following a response by multiple police units to a stolen vehicle that had allegedly been abandoned on Charlton Street at Gordonvale yesterday morning, January 11.
It is alleged the group were involved in the theft of a handbag containing keys and wallets from a vehicle parked at Squires Close. The group fled in a stolen blue MG3 and allegedly returned later and attempted to steal the vehicle. Police were called and commenced patrols of the area.
Edmonton Detectives located three of the teens allegedly involved at around 12:30 on Church Street at Gordonvale.
The remaining two teenagers were later located in the area and taken into police custody.
Officers recovered the damaged MG3 which had been allegedly stolen Grandview Crescent at Earlville on January 11.
A 15-year-old Manunda girl was charged with entering a premises and three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.
A 17-year-old Mooroobool girl was charged with entering a premises, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and four counts of breaching bail conditions. She was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.
A 14-year-old Manunda girl was charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and entering a premises. She was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.
A 15-year-old Edmonton boy and a 13-year-old Mount Sheridan girl were both charged with entering a premises and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. They are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
