Multiple charges, White Rock
Officers from Cairns Tactical Crime Squad have charged seven teenagers after an allegedly stolen Mazda BT-50 was stopped in White Rock on Saturday morning, December 7.
The vehicle was subject to a tyre deflation device on Links Drive, White Rock before the police helicopter tracked the vehicle and allegedly observed it driving erratically through several streets, striking the gutter multiple times and narrowly missing oncoming traffic.
After the vehicle was dumped on O’Hara Street just before 7:30am, the 15-year-old alleged driver of the vehicle was tracked by helicopter to a Frances Street address where he was arrested just after 8am.
In total seven teenagers, 3 boys and 4 boys, aged between 13 and 16-years-old were arrested over Saturday and Sunday and charged in alleged connection with the theft and use of this vehicle.
One of the boys, 16-years-old, has also been charged with four counts of armed robbery after allegedly breaking into several units at a Smithfield residential facility, in the early hours of Saturday morning, where victims between the ages 71 and 90-years-old were allegedly assaulted and robbed.
A total of 21 charges will be heard today, December 9, in the Cairns Childrens Court involving five of the teens who have been refused bail.
Four more charges are due to be heard in the Cairns Childrens Court, involving two of the teenagers, on December 11.

Assault, Manunda
A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a warrant was executed at a McEwen Street address yesterday afternoon, December 8.
It will be alleged on the evening of December 3, a 20-year-old man had been waiting at bus stop at the side of a Pease Street shopping centre when he was approached by the man.
The man allegedly punched the victim to the face before stealing his bag containing an amount of cash and bank cards.
The man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and stealing from the person.
He has been refused bail and will appear before Cairns Magistrates Court today, December 9.

Vehicle theft, Cairns Area
A 17-year-old North Cairns boy has been arrested after being located at a David Street address on Saturday morning, December 7.
It will be alleged the boy had been involved with four stolen vehicles between October 23 and December 5.
It will be further alleged that on 3 of these occasions the boy published pictures of himself on social media with the stolen vehicles.
The boy has been charged with three counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle use social media, one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle, and two counts of breach of bail.
He has been refused bail and will appear before Cairns Childrens Court today, December 9.
