Break and enter, Trinity Beach

Officers from Smithfield Criminal Investigation Branch charged two teenage boys yesterday following investigations into an incident at a Rabaul Street business late night Sunday, February 9.

It will be alleged the boys were captured on CCTV just before 11pm trying for approximately 40 minutes to break into the business, ripping the security door from its frame before being unable to open the main door and leaving the location.

The boys will also be alleged to have been involved with several other incidents including break into homes and stealing vehicles from Clifton Beach, Palm Cove, and Trinity Beach over the past month.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with four counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, three counts of enter dwelling, and two counts of attempted enter premises.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with three counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one of attempted enter premises.

Both boys are due to appear before the Cairns Childrens Court today, February 12.

Wilful damage, Cairns City

A 25-year-old Manunda man has been arrested after being located by officers on the Esplanade last night, February 11.

It will be alleged the man had ripped a speaker from its mounting at the front of a Shields Street business before taking the speaker with him.

Officers located the man just after 7pm when it will be alleged he had in his possession a mobile phone, sim card and powerbank that he had allegedly found.

It will be further alleged the man attempted to run from officers when asked about the items.

He has been charged with three counts of stealing, two counts of obstruct police, and one of wilful damage.

He has been denied bail and will appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court today, February 12.

Uttering, Cairns City

A 35-year-old Mooroobool was arrested last night, February 11, after being located on McLeod Street.

The man was being questioned by officers in regard to an alleged breach of bail when it will be alleged he presented officers with a fraudulent medical certificate.

It will be further alleged that when searched officers located bank cards and identification cards in other persons names, and a syringe.

It will also be alleged the man had been involved in the break-in of a Martyn Street home on February 1.

He has been charged with one count each of uttering, forgery, enter dwelling, receive tainted property, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, fail to dispose of needle, and breach of bail.

He is due to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court February on 27.
