Did you know that distraction is one of the 5 contributing factors for fatal and serious road crashes?

Distracted drivers are:

  • Talking on their hand-held mobile phone while driving;
  • Reading or sending a text on their hand-held mobile phone while driving;
  • Drinking and eating takeaways whilst driving;
  • Changing their song/radio station or CD while driving;
  • Attending to children in the backseat while driving; or
  • Just not paying attention to the job at hand, which is driving to the conditions of the road.

If you feel the need to do any of these things while in your car, do yourself and everyone else a favour, make sure you pull over and stop before doing so.

Far Northern roads have seen nine deaths in eight weeks since the start of 2015 as a result of fatal road crashes.

Nine families, countless friends, acquaintances and communities have been devastated and changed forever because of these fatal crashes.

Every single time you get behind the wheel of a car, please stay alert and drive with care.

  • Drive to the conditions of the roads.
  • If it’s wet or slippery, slow down.
  • Our roads are not race tracks, our families and friends are all out there with you.
  • Road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
