Stealing and property charges, Cairns CBD:  An 18-year-old Bungalow man was arrested and charged early this morning following a stealing incident in the CBD.

It will be alleged that around 1am the man stole a wallet from the pocket of a 33-year-old man as he slept on a seat in Lake Street.

Police were advised of the incident and officers subsequently located the alleged offender near the intersection of Mulgrave Road and Buchan Street.  He was taken into custody and a sum of money was seized from him.  Officers also seized a bicycle he was riding as suspected stolen property.

He was charged with one count each of stealing and possession of tainted property and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on April 3.

Fraud charge, Cairns:  A 17-year-old Redlynch woman is due to face Court later this month following an investigation into the alleged fraudulent use of another person’s credit card details.

It will be alleged that the woman obtained the details from a third party and subsequently made a number of fraudulent purchases.  The transactions are alleged to have been made between late November and early December last year.

She was issued with a notice to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on April 30 to face one count of fraud.
