Men charged over business break-ins, Cairns: Four men detained at an Esplanade apartment early on Sunday morning have been charged as part of an investigation into a recent spate of break and enter offences at local businesses.
A 26-year-old Utchee Creek man was charged with a total of nine offences including entering premises and stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fraud, stealing and receiving tainted property.
A 38-year-old man from Cooktown was charged with the attempted break and entry of a car wash business at Craiglea on March 11.
A 42-year-old Cairns man was charged with production of a dangerous drug.
The three men are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later today.
A 25-year-old Cairns man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property, and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on April 8.
Investigations into the incidents are continuing.
Pair charged over break-in and liquor thefts, Bungalow: A 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were charged early this morning following the alleged break and enter of a Spence Street business.
It will be alleged entry was forced into the premises just after midnight and a quantity of liquor was stolen.
The 19-year-old was charged with three counts of entering premises and stealing in relation to this and unrelated incidents in Townsville. He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on April 8.
The boy was charged with possession of stolen property and will be dealt with under the provisions of The Youth Justice Act 1992.
Drink Drivers, Cairns: Police from the Road Policing Unit (RPU) charged a 41-year-old Edge Hill man with two counts of drink driving in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It will be alleged the man was first intercepted by police in McLeod Street and recorded a reading of 0.094 and his licence was immediately suspended for a 24 hour period.
It will be further alleged that later on the man was intercepted for a second time and recorded a reading of 0.085 and was issued with an immediate suspension.
He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on April 7.
Yesterday officers from the RPU charged a 52-year-old White Rock man with one count of drink driving.
It will be alleged police intercepted the man at about 6.30pm on Progress Road, White Rock where he recorded a reading of 0.190.
He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on April 7.
