Police are reminding residents to exercise caution when it comes to door-to-door sales following reports of traders seeking business for roof work in the Mooroobool area.
Residents are reminded that they have specific rights when it comes to door-to-door traders;
Door-to-door salespeople are not allowed to visit you:
- on Sundays or public holidays
- before 9am or after 6pm on weekdays
- before 9am or after 5pm on Saturdays.
The salesperson must:
- tell you that you can ask them to leave
- leave immediately if you ask them to and not return for 30 days.
Residents are advised to obtain a ‘Do not knock’ sticker if they wish to avoid door-to-door selling. Stickers can be obtained by visiting; www.accc.gov.au/doortodoor
