It’s raining, it’s pouring but don’t get caught out trying to cross flooded creeks and causeways.
Motorists planning on travelling throughout Cape York Peninsula are urged to check road conditions before venturing out on the roads and pay particular attention to areas where we traditionally see localised flooding.
A number of roads in the Cape and around Far North Queensland are flooded with our late seasonal rain. The Cape is expecting more rain over the next few days and should clear later in the week whilst Cairns is expected to clear by Wednesday.
Cooktown Police report a number of roads and rivers are affected in there area with flooding at the Little Annan Bridge on the Mulligan Highway, Wallaby Creek at Rossville and Mungumby Creek on the Shipton’s Flat Road between the Mulligan Highway and the Lion’s Den.
Whilst some roads are now open, motorists are urged to use extreme caution and don’t get caught out in flood waters.
