Serious Assault police charges, Cairns: Detectives have charged a 27-year-old Manoora man with two counts of serious obstruct and one count each of serious assault police and dangerous operation of a vehicle following an incident on Friday morning.

Police will allege the man was a passenger in a vehicle which was intercepted in Pease Street Manoora at about 2am.

It will also be alleged the man fled in a vehicle, then ran from police before Police Dog Hahm apprehended him on McLeod Street in Cairns North.

The man allegedly seriously assaulted the dog squad officer during the arrest.

The man sustained a dog bite and was conveyed to Cairns Hospital for medical treatment.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

Wilful damage, Cairns: Police charged a 50-year-old Smithfield man with one count of wilful damage on Saturday.

It will be alleged the man used a metal bar from a nearby vehicle and smashed windows and panels of a stationary specialised police van on Pier Point Road about 11.10am on Saturday.

Police apprehended the man a short distance away in Shields Street after he allegedly replaced the metal pole in the parked vehicle and walked away.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

Traffic charges, Brinsmead: Police were called to a three vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Ramsay Drive and Reservoir Road, Brinsmead at about 6.20pm on Friday June 17.

It will be alleged the 15-year-old female driver of a sedan failed to give way and collided into the side of van, causing it to lose control and roll multiple times.

As the van lost control it collided into a 4WD and caused significant damage.

The 51-year-old male driver of the van sustained a laceration to his arm and was conveyed to Cairns Hospital for medical treatment.

The 55-year-old Earlville woman driving the 4WD escaped injury however all three vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

The 15-year-old Mooroobool girl allegedly recorded a B.A.C. of 0.015 per cent and was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, drink driving, unlicensed driving and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

She will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992.

Search and rescue, Barron Gorge National Park: Police and the QGAir Rescue 510 helicopter were involved in a search and rescue on Saturday.

At about 4.30pm, police received a call from a 24-year-old Westcourt woman who had attempted to walk from Speewah to Glacier Rock when she became lost whilst on the Douglas Track.

Police co-ordinated the search and Rescue 510 located the woman before winching her to safety at about 5.30pm.
