Stealing and other charges, Cairns: A 17-year-old Mount Sheridan woman was charged yesterday following investigations into a burglary offence that occurred at a Manoora residence last Thursday night.

It will be alleged that entry was gained to the Springfield Crescent residence sometime between 10.30pm and 7.15am and a wallet and keys were stolen.  The keys were then used to steal a motor vehicle from the garage.

It will be further alleged that the offenders then picked up the woman in the vehicle and that she drove the stolen vehicle around the local area, stealing fuel from two different fuel stations at Redlynch and Smithfield, as well as liquor from bottle shops at Earlville and Smithfield.

She was located and taken into custody at a Mount Sheridan residence shortly before 7pm yesterday and was charged with four counts of stealing and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.

The woman is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 31.

An 18-year-old woman from Edmonton and a Bentley Park girl aged 13 have already been charged in relation to the same incidents.

Property charges, Earlville: Cairns Property Crime Squad officers charged a 16-year-old Mooroobool boy yesterday as part of ongoing investigations into a number of burglary incidents that occurred in the Earlville area in late June and early July.

It will be alleged the boy and others gained entry to residences in Balaclava Road and Yarrum Street at Earlville on July 6 and stole property including phones cash, a phone and a bicycle.

He was charged with two counts of burglary and will be dealt with under the provisions of The Youth Justice Act 1992.

A 14-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys have been charged previously in relation to some of the same incidents.
