Palm Cove man charged over burglary and fraud offences: Smithfield detectives yesterday charged a 21-year-old Palm Cove man following investigations into a number of property related offences committed across the northern suburbs.
Officers located the man at a Palm Cove residence just before 10am and he was taken into custody.
The man was subsequently charged with four counts of burglary, two counts of entering premises and stealing and three counts of fraud and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.
The charges relate to burglary, fraud and other offences allegedly committed at Cairns North, Redlynch, Smithfield and Palm Cove between January 19 and August 15 this year.
Update 2: Wilful damage charge, Pormpuraaw: A 43-year-old Pormpuraaw man was charged yesterday as part of ongoing investigations into a disturbance in the community on Monday night.
Police located the man at a Wirran Street residence yesterday and he was charged with one count of wilful damage of police property as well as one count of burglary resulting from a separate incident on the same night.
He is scheduled to appear in the Pormpuraaw Magistrates Court on September 12.
The man is the eighth person to be charged in relation to the incident.
Burglary and property charges, White Rock: Police charged a 15-year-old White Rock boy yesterday following investigations into a number a property offences allegedly committed in the area over the last five months.
It will be alleged that entry was gained to three homes in the White Rock area and computer tablets, gaming equipment, keys and a bicycle were stolen. It will be further alleged liquor, tools and other items were stolen from outside two other dwellings in White Rock and Mount Sheridan.
The boy was charged with seven offences comprising three counts of burglary, two counts of stealing and one count each of trespass and possession of suspected stolen property.
He will be dealt with under the provisions of The Youth Justice Act 1992.
