Robbery charges, Edmonton: A 19-year-old Earlville man has been charged following a robbery incident at an Edmonton park yesterday.
It will be alleged that two male victims aged 14 and 17, and another male friend aged 22, were pushing a motorcycle and a bicycle along a pathway through the park at around 4.30pm when the man approached and demanded to ride the motorcycle.
The man then allegedly attempted to wrestle the motorcycle from the 14-year-old before punching him in the stomach.
The 22-year-old then took hold of the motorcycle handlebars to prevent the man from stealing it.
The alleged offender then punched the 17-year-old to the head before stealing his bicycle and riding off with it.
The three friends then attended the Edmonton police station to report the incidents.
Officers conducted patrols of the area and subsequently located the 19-year-old walking on Shaft Street at around 5.30pm.
He was arrested and charged with one count each of robbery and attempted robbery with violence and is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.
The two victims did not sustain and physical injuries as a result of the incidents, and investigations are continuing in order to locate the stolen bicycle.
Vehicle theft, drug and other charges, Cairns: A 25-year-old Cairns North woman is scheduled to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning following her arrest yesterday.
Officers had been seeking the woman in relation to a number of matters including the unlawful use of a rental vehicle.
It will be alleged that patrols had attempted to intercept the vehicle on a number of occasions and the driver had failed to stop in each instance.
Police attended a Cairns North apartment complex just before 8.30am yesterday and the woman allegedly jumped from a first floor window before running out onto Sheridan Street.
A foot chase ensued and the woman was apprehended a short distance away and taken into custody.
She was charged with a total of 13 offences comprising three counts of failing to stop, two counts each of possession of a dangerous drug, unlicensed driving, and two Bail Act matters, as well as single counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, stealing and obstructing police.
The vehicle was recovered on August 21.
