Grievous bodily harm charges, Cairns City: Detectives have charged three Victorian men, one aged 24 and two aged 23, with grievous bodily harm following a serious assault yesterday.
Police allege the trio were involved in an altercation with a 27-year-old Whitfield man in Shields Street, Cairns City at about 11.20pm.
It is further alleged the 27-year-old victim was knocked to the ground by one man and assaulted whilst on the ground by the other two men.
The man sustained serious facial and eye injuries and will require reconstructive surgery.
All three men are due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 28.
Burglary and assault, Manunda: Police are investigating a break in and assault that occurred this morning at a unit complex in Mayers Street, Manunda.
Preliminary investigations indicate a man gained entry to the premises around 1am, went into a bedroom where a 24-year-old woman was sleeping and touched her inappropriately.
The woman woke and screamed, causing the man to flee the scene.
The man is described as Pacific Islander in appearance, around 160cm tall with a stocky build, short black hair and was wearing dark coloured clothing.
Neighbours came to the aid of the woman and saw the male run off down the street.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact police or crime stoppers.
