Workplace fraud charges, Edmonton & Cairns: A 22-year-old Edmonton woman was charged on Sunday following investigations into a fraud related complaint.

It will be alleged that the woman was employed by a local building company as an administration officer and used a company credit card to make numerous unauthorised personal purchases between May 2015 and December 2016.

She was charged with fraud and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 31.

In a separate fraud investigation, detectives charged a 39-year-old Woree woman yesterday following investigations into the alleged theft of money from her workplace.

It will be alleged that the woman stole funds between May and July 2015 whilst employed at a Westcourt supermarket.

Officers spoke with the woman yesterday afternoon and she was charged with two counts of fraud.

The woman is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 30.

Burglary charges, Woree: Detectives charged a 19-year-old Woree man yesterday in connection with a number of burglary offences allegedly committed at a number of Woree residences over four years ago.

It will be alleged that the man forced entry to three units at a Mintaro Crescent unit complex between December 24 and 27 in 2012 and stole numerous items of property from each unit.

Officers had dealings with the man last Thursday night in relation to another incident and subsequent inquiries revealed he was a person of interest in these historical matters.

He was spoken to again yesterday and was issued with a notice to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on January 27 to face three charges of burglary.

Serious assault charges, Cairns: A 39-year-old Parramatta Park woman was arrested on Friday night following an incident at Manunda.

It will be alleged that the woman had been located lying asleep on the roadway near the intersection of Alfred and Atkinson Streets just before 10pm, and had thrown her phone at a person who had seen her predicament and was trying to assist her to safety.

Police were called and upon arrival at the location the woman was taken into custody, allegedly spitting on a male officer at the scene.

She was then transported to the Police station where she was taken to the watchhouse.

It will be further alleged that upon being prepared for custody, the woman refused to provide her name and then spat on another male and female officer who were performing watchhouse duties.

She was charged with four counts of serious assault and one count of contravening a requirement and has been remanded to reappear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on February 6.
