Property and drug charge, Mount Sheridan: Cairns detectives today charged two teens aged 16 and 18-years with one count each of burglary. Police allege the pair were intercepted by Edmonton Police on patrol at about 12.30am today and located with a quantity of property.
Investigations revealed the pair allegedly broke into a home in Barnard Drive Mount Sheridan earlier in the evening via an unlocked door and stole property including a wallet, cash, tobacco, soft drink and alcohol.
It’s further alleged the 18-year-old was found in possession of a quantity of cannabis and charged with one count of possession of a dangerous drug also.
He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Further property charges, Kanimbla: Property Crime Squad detectives investigating a series of burglaries in the Kanimbla, Whitfield, Smithfield and Machans Beach areas last week have charged four teens with a total of 35 property related charges.
Two boys aged 15 and 16 were charged on Thursday last week with a total of 19 property related charged, whilst a 17-year-old Mount Garnet man was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle on Friday.
Detectives charged the fourth teen, a 16-year-old Woree boy on Friday with three counts of burglary, two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, enter premises and commit, enter dwelling with intent and evade police and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and unlicenced driving.
Injury traffic crash, Brinsmead: Police were called to a traffic crash at about 7.45am yesterday on Loridan Drive, Brinsmead.
Police allege a 12-year-old boy ran onto the road and collided with the front of a vehicle and sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Investigations are continuing however it is unlikely the driver will face charges.
