
Assault – Smithfield
Two teenage girls were arrested and charged by detectives yesterday following investigations into an assault at a Smithfield fast food restaurant on August 7.
It will be alleged the girls entered the restaurant at approximately 5pm and approached a 12-year-old victim at random striking her several times whilst filming the assault.
The 12-year-old victim sustained bruising during the assault but did not require further medical attention.
A warrant, executed yesterday, August 8 at a Smithfield address resulted in a 15-year-old girl being taken into custody and charged.
A short time later a second 13-year-old girl was located at a Parramatta Park address and taken into custody and charged.
It will be further alleged that both girls had been involved in several other offences across the Smithfield and Cairns areas over the previous couple of weeks.
The 15-year-old Smithfield girl has been charged with one count of assault, three of public nuisance and two of trespass and is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court today, August 9.
The 13-year-old Parramatta Park girl has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, obstruct police, wilful damage, stealing and three counts of breach of bail.
She is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court today, August 9.

Stolen vehicle – Bentley Park
Two men and two women were taken into custody and charged late last night at an Ishmael Road address.
It will be alleged that the four, at approximately 8pm that evening, had been involved in a break-in at a Bentley Park address where a vehicle and other property were taken.
At approximately 11pm, Police were able to locate the vehicle at the Ishmael Road address, arresting the suspects and recovering the vehicle
Two 18-year-old women and an 18-year-old man have each been charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle.
It will be further alleged that a 23-year-old man, arrested with the group had been involved in other offences in the area over the past week.
He has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle and one count each of enter dwelling, receive tainted property and attempted enter property.
All four are due to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on August 28.
