Endangering property by fire charges | Manunda

Police have charged a 49-year-old Cairns man following investigations into an alleged incident in Manunda on October 1.

It will be alleged at approximately 10:30am, the man attended an address on Martyn Street before they set fire to several items of property, before fleeing the scene.

Officers from the Far North Tactical Crime Squad located the 49-year-old man yesterday, October 3. He was arrested and transported to the watchhouse.

The man was charged with one count of endangering property by fire.

He was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today, October 4.

Assault, stealing and trespass charges | Cairns City

Police have charged an 18-year-old Bungalow woman following an alleged assault in Cairns City yesterday, October 3.

It will be alleged at approximately 12:30pm, the woman was at a shopping centre, where she was prohibited from attending.

The 18-year-old entered a business, allegedly stealing property, before being confronted by security guards. She then allegedly assaulted a 31-year-old man.

Officers from the Cairns Central Police Beat attended and took the woman into custody.

She has been charged with one count each of common assault, stealing and trespass.

She is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 24.

Traffic crash charges | Bentley Park

Police have charged a 51-year-old Bentley Park woman following an alleged traffic incident on Robert Road in Bentley Park yesterday, October 3.

It will be alleged at approximately 4:30pm, the 51-year-old woman failed to give way to other motorists, whilst conducting a u-turn, causing a collision with another vehicle.

Emergency services attended the location. The woman, and a 22-year-old Redlynch woman were both treated at the scene and transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The 51-year-old woman was charged with one count of failing to give way when making a u-turn. She was issued a traffic infringement notice.
