Armed robbery in company with violence charges, Manoora | Police were called to a burglary that occurred at a Manoora home over the weekend.

Around 10.30am on October 7 it is alleged three teens attended looking for a man and forced entry to the unit. The man was not home at the time, and it is alleged the teens threatened the occupants with baseball bats and a machete before assaulting a 17-year-old Manoora boy with a baseball bat.

A 17-year-old boy sustained a leg injury during the incident and required medical treatment.

Investigating detectives yesterday charged an 18-year-old Westcourt man, a 19-year-old Edmonton man and a 17-year-old Mt Sheridan boy with one count each of armed robbery in company with violence causing bodily harm.

Police opposed bail for the 18 and 19-year-old men and they are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today, whilst the 17-year-old boy is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court on October 11.

Business break in, Cairns North |

Police have charged a man following a break and enter at a Cairns North business yesterday morning, October 9.

Around 4.30am police responded to a break in at a North Cairns business where it is alleged entry was forced and multiple coils of industrial electrical cable were removed. The officers commenced their investigation before locating a man a short distance away.

The officers conducted a further search of the area and recovered seven rolls of industrial electrical cable alleged to have been stolen from the business, along with multiple tools used to break into the property.

Officers charged a 33-year-old Cairns North man with one count each of enter premises and commit an indictable offence, possess by night an instrument of house breaking and stealing.

He appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court yesterday and is scheduled to reappear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 12. 

Drug and drink drug drivers, Greater Cairns | Around 2.30am today, October 10, Cairns police intercepted a vehicle in Abbott Street, Cairns City for the purpose of a roadside breath test and was conveyed to the Cairns Police Station for further testing.

Officers conducted a search of the man and located a quantity of cocaine and MDMA also known as Ecstasy.

The 24-year-old Gordonvale man was charged with two counts of possess dangerous drugs and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 31.

In a separate incident, police  observed a man driving a vehicle on English Street Manunda about 2am today, however by the time police conducted a u-turn and intercepted the vehicle, it is alleged the driver had changed position with his female passenger who was then driving the vehicle at the time of intercept.

As police intercepted the vehicle, it is alleged the female driver attempted to flee from the vehicle before she was apprehended a short distance away.

Both were tested, with the woman allegedly recording a reading of .223 whilst the man allegedly recorded a reading of .08.

A 37-year-old woman from Bayview Heights was charged with one count each of drink drive UIL and obstruct police and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 26.

A 56-year-old man from Manunda was charged with one count each of drink driving mid-range and driving on a suspended licence. 

He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 25.
