
Drug and weapon charges, Cairns North | Cairns police yesterday charged a 45-year-old Parramatta Park man with one count each of trespass, possess dangerous drug, possess tainted property, stealing, two counts each of trespass and fraud.
Police will allege the man found a wallet in Sheridan Street, Cairns North last week, before using a credit card to purchase items from a nearby fuel station and another business.
When intercepted by police, it’s alleged he had a hunting knife in a holster on his belt and two other knives in his belongings along with a wallet, iPhone, cash and coffee grinder containing a quantity of cannabis.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today. QP2301348464
Armed robbery appeal for information, Westcourt | Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at about 11am yesterday in the carpark at a Mulgrave Road shopping center in Westcourt.
A woman in her 70’s was approached whilst she was loading groceries into the back of her vehicle, threatened the woman with a knife before stealing a handbag from the vehicle.
The young male fled on foot before getting into a white vehicle which then left the carpark.
The woman did not sustain injuries. Police are reviewing CCTV cameras in the area and urge anyone who has information about the incident, or has dash camera vision that can assist police, to contact police. QP2301692113
