Assault occasioning bodily harm charges, Parramatta Park | Police were called to a disturbance at a property in Grove Street Parramatta Park at last night (October 24).

At about 5.30pm, it’s alleged a 62-year-old male resident and a 48-year-old Bungalow man were involved in a physical altercation after the older man confronted the other and told him to quieten down. It’s alleged the 48-year-old and the 62-year-old became involved in a physical fight with the 48-year-old, hitting the older man with a stick.  

A 53-year-old woman went to intervene however a 42-year-old woman came out of another property and punched the older woman twice in the head.

The 62-year-old man sustained a laceration to his arm, whilst the 53-year-old woman sustained bruising and swelling to her face. Both required medical treatment.

Both the 48-year-old Bungalow man and the 42-year-old Cairns woman were charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 9.

Single vehicle traffic crash, Manoora | Police were called to a single vehicle crash at about 3pm yesterday (October 24), in Anderson Street, Manoora.

Police allege the driver, a 76-year-old Smithfield woman, was parking a motor vehicle when she has hit the front kerb before her foot slipped from the brake and accelerated into a pole.

It’s further alleged the pole moved before smashing into the window of a nearby business.

No persons were injured however damage was caused to the business and vehicle.

Investigations are ongoing.

Wilful damage and fire charges, Mooroobool | Police were called to a property in Sunflower Drive Mooroobool at about 4.30pm on Friday October 6 after reports that a grass fire had engulfed a shed at the rear of the property.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Services were called and contain the fire to that immediate area.  at about 4.15am today after its alleged a sarong hanging over a door was set alight this morning.

Officers from Queensland Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the blaze which was contained to the shed and vegetation at the property. No persons were injured, and a police investigation commenced.

Officers from the Cairns Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) yesterday arrested a 12-year-old Mooroobool boy and charged him with one count each of setting fire to vegetation and wilful damage.

He was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Investigations are ongoing.
