Drug charges, Gordonvale

A 59-year-old man was charged yesterday, February 5 following investigations into a warrant executed at a Lucas Street address.

It will be alleged between October 1, 2024, and January 18, 2025, the man supplied a dangerous drug to other adults as well as to a minor.

It will be further alleged that during the execution of the warrant the man was found to be in possession of a quantity of the drug and associated paraphernalia.

He has been charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of supplying dangerous drugs to a minor, possess dangerous drugs, possess drug utensils, and possess property suspected used in commission of drug offence.

He is due to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 5.

Break and enter, Cairns City

Five juveniles were arrested following an incident late last night, February 5 on the Cairns Esplanade.

It will be alleged just after 11pm the group were spotted by CCTV operators smashing the glass frontage of an Esplanade café.

Police were alerted and the group were allegedly attempting to enter the premises when interrupted by officers.

The group fled the area but shortly after were all located and arrested nearby.

Three 12-year-old boys, a 9-year-old boy, and a 13-year-old girl have each been charged with one count of attempted enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

All five have been dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Weapons charge, Earlville

Two 16-year-old boys and a 16-year-old girl have been charged after being located at a Mulgrave Road shopping centre yesterday morning, February 5.

It will be alleged the group, who were all subject to a two-year ban from the centre, were asked to leave by security who alerted police when they refused.

It will be further alleged one of the boys was found to have a knife in his possession when searched by officers.

All three have been charged with one count of trespass, and one boy has been charged with one count of possess knife in a public place.

They are all due to appear before the Cairns Childrens Court on February 12.
