Witnesses sought to Manoora traffic incident: Cairns Forensic Crash Unit officers are appealing for assistance from the community in relation to a single vehicle traffic incident that occurred on Pease Street on Friday evening.
At around 6pm a male pedestrian was struck by a north-bound ute near the intersection of Pease and McIllwraith Streets. The victim, a 44-year-old Westcourt man, sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident and remains in a serious condition in Townsville Hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the man may have been running in and out of traffic prior to the incident.
Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with the driver of a blue ute displaying a ‘P’ plate, which was seen to take evasive action and drive off after the man attempted to stop the vehicle and open the door.
They are also keen to speak with any other witnesses who observed the man’s behaviour immediately prior to the crash. Quote police reference # QP1400889120
