Far Northern District Police will this weekend pay tribute to the many police officers serving Far North Queensland communities since 1864.
This commemoration ceremony will centre on the dedication of a plaque at the Memorial Walk, the Esplanade (just north of the RSL Cenotaph), Cairns on Saturday 9th August 2014
As part of the commemoration, local police would like to increase the public awareness of this propitious dedication, by marching Far Northern personnel to the dedication Site, whilst being escorted by a colour party and members of the Queensland Police Pipes and Drums.
The March will step off from the Reef Terminal Side of Pier Point Road, Cairns at 10.30 am on Saturday 9th August and travel along the Esplanade to the Memorial Walk where the dedication ceremony will commence.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the QPS Pipes and Drums will perform a musical medley to entertain participants and welcomed onlookers from the public.
This event marks the significant contribution police officers have made to the quality of life that has been enjoyed by Far North Queenslanders for over 150 years.
