It was all hands on deck yesterday as police from the Mooroobool Police Beat, Police Liaison Officer’s, community members and staff from Bunning’s Warehouse armed themselves with shovels to build a community garden at the Mooroobool Hub in Shang Street.
Members of community groups based at the hub came up with the idea to install a garden at the centre in an effort to provide education on the care and maintenance of vegetable and flower gardens. Bunnings came to the garden party with a generous donation of over $1500 worth of products to create 5 garden beds filled with vegetable and flowers. The generous donation also included the labour of 8 Bunning’s staff members to help install the garden beds.

once the hard labour commenced. A heavy shower of rain provided some brief relief but quickly steamed things up and added some weight to the soil being moved once the shower disappeared.
The Mooroobool Hub was re-opened in April 2014 and is now a central point within Mooroobool used by support agencies and community groups to bring people together to enhance life skills, seek health advice and further develop their education.
“I am looking forward to seeing the community getting involved and enhancing this garden space and also utilising some of the herbs for their own cooking in the near future.
