The real cost of vehicle theft

So you wake up one morning to find your car missing from the driveway, first the dread sets in that someone else is driving around in what is possibly your pride and joy, your mobile workplace or your only mode of transport to get the kids to school.

Then you realise that your car keys are missing, which means that someone has not only taken your car but has also been an uninvited guest in your home while you and the rest of your family were sleeping.

Where are your car keys?

Where are your car keys?

Upon further inspection you realise that those car keys now missing from your kitchen bench were also where your handbag, wallet and mobile phone were left sitting when you went to bed last night, all gone.

So here are some possible scenarios that you are left with with for the remainder of the day and possibly the weeks to come:

  • The insurance premiums if your car is recovered in a damaged state or worse still, destroyed
  • The cost of replacement or repairs if you are not insured
  • The loss of any items that may have been in your car; car seats, bikes, tools, sporting equipment and personal items
  • The loss of possibly your only mode of transport; how will you get the kids to and from school, how will you get to work, how will you do those everyday jobs that you need your car for?

The list goes on, but sadly these are the real scenarios faced daily by victims of burglaries and car thefts.

Now take a moment to consider the effect a burglary and

car theft will have on you.

Don’t wait until you are a victim of crime. Remove valuables from your vehicle, lock your vehicle, hide your car keys and other valuables and lock your home.

Below is a current list of stolen vehicles that police are appealing for public assistance to help locate.
