Serious assault, Cairns CBD – A 29-year-old Cairns man was allegedly arrested and charged last night following an incident in the Lake Street.
Police were called to a disturbance between a group of people in Lake Street at around 10.40pm and the man was allegedly arrested in relation to another matter. Upon being placed in the rear of the police vehicle the man allegedly spat in the face of a 26-year-old male officer.
He was charged with one count each of serious assault and breaching a bail condition and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later today.
Property charges, Mossman – Detectives from Mossman laid additional charges on a 38-year-old Tablelands man yesterday following further investigations into a recent spate of break and entry offences allegedly committed in the Mossman CBD late last week.
He was charged with one count of breaking and entering premises and two counts of attempted entry to premises. The charges relate to business premises in Front Street including a real estate office, a disability services premises and a retail tenancy.
The man has now been charged with a total of 13 offences relating to the Mossman CBD and is scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court later this month.
